My Personal Experience with the Genie Bra

Cheryl E Preston, Yahoo! Contributor Network

In high school I weighed 98 lbs. And I barely fit a size 32 A bra. Now at age 54 things have changed. Bra straps have left ugly indentations in my shoulders. And I have a hard time finding the right cup size. When I watch the commercials for the Genie Bra and other similar products I can relate. And I know that the women pulling tugging and struggling with their Brazzieres is no exaggeration.

I realized that with the changes in my body as I age, that I would love a product that gave extra support. The pull of gravity demands lift, but under wires are painful. I wanted full support that would complement my body. I desired a product that would help with posture. And I did not want to appear as if I had 4 breast instead of two. Still I had reservations. I perceived these supposed wonder bra's were more hype than substance.

I was leaving Walmart one day and noticed a rack of Genie Bra's near the check out counter. A package of 2 was only $19.99. So I took the plunge. The Genie bra is soft and comfortable. It does gift lift and support without wires. I find that my posture improves when I wear it. The straps fit nicely. And I am thankful that I no longer have to worry about the deep ruts that have been forged in my shoulders over time. And the Genie bra has pads that can be inserted for those who need extra support. it does move and bend with me. And often I forget I have it on. And I love how my "girls" don't bounce anymore. The Genie bra holds them in just fine.

The Genie Bra does cover under my arms and my back more than a traditional bra. However it does not cover 100%. I still see flab showing, just not as much. Also the commercials claim the Genie Bra does not roll. Well mine does. I find myself pulling it down the front multiple times a day. Both these issues may resolve themselves by a little exercise. Or I could try a larger size Genie bra.

Over all the Genie bra is a better experience than traditional bras. And it granted 3 of my wishes. Truth be told no product is ever 100% of what it is advertised to be. And as we age our bodies shift and change. And we must make allowance for that.
